My name’s Ian O’Brien and I’ve been teaching guitar here in Norwich for 8 years now. When I’m not teaching at Access to Music (the music college in Norwich) I teach guitar in a relaxed and friendly way from my home studio in the golden triangle. This is mostly evening and weekends but I like to do at least one daytime a week teaching guitar also. I try my best to fit people in so please give me a call on 07743964206, we can talk about what you want to do on the guitar and find a time that suits us both.
Your first guitar lessons are often the most important ones. I enjoy teaching beginners and I’m happy to take you step by step thorough the all important fundamentals. From strumming rhythms, learning the most useful chords and changing between them… to playing notes, riffs and solos with a good technique that will enable you to take your guitar playing as far as you want to.
Nobody sticks with things they don’t enjoy, that’s why I plan every lesson around the music that you like, using it to teach the important techniques and fundamentals whilst learning the songs you’re into. No nursery rhymes or made up examples here.
If you’re not sure on the music I’m also happy to introduce you to a wide variety of great guitar music and plan your lesson around that.
Intermediate players usually have a good idea of where they want to go and achieving your aims is what I plan these lessons around. Whether that’s playing specific songs, learning to play solos, understanding music, songwriting or developing the skills to play in a band, I can help.
After a few years it’s common to become stuck in a rut and need help moving forward.
For advanced guitarists this often means breaking out of familiar patterns of playing, opening up the whole neck and learning to play comfortably in any position of any key as well developing an advanced level of technique, musical expression knowledge and application of scales, chords and arpeggios.
Give me a call for a chat on 07743964206. I look forward to meeting you.
